If someone gave you a car to borrow, you would treat it with a lot of respect so that you could return it in good condition, right? In the same way, our bodies are not our own; they are temporary dwelling places that God gave us to accomplish His will here on earth. This is my last post in my series about gluttony. Gluttony is not only a physical issue but it is also a mental, emotional, and spiritual issue. We fall into the temptation of making food our god when we look to food for our joy, comfort, and security.
“It says here that you agree that overeating is a concern for you…but I mean...I’m looking at you I’m guessing that’s not true.” I sat across the table from the counselor, baffled. One of the pre-session survey questions for our marriage counseling session was, “Do you agree that overeating is an area of concern for you?” I confidently marked Yes. As the counselor read over the results, he sized me up, laughed, and basically told me...yeah, there’s no way. How could a 5’7”, 125 pound girl possibly have an overeating problem?

We over-think things and beat ourselves up if we think we aren’t making the very best use of our time.
